Noise-cancelling windows halve traffic sounds even when they’re open

A grid of speakers fixed to a window can cut the noisiness of urban traffic in half, reducing the sound coming through an open window by up to 10 decibels


Glass has been associated with architectural ingenuity since the 19th century and is today considered a “high-tech” material, functional yet refined, always appreciated for its transparency. The fascination which glass seems to inspire in designers can perhaps be explained by its aesthetics and functions, both complimentary and contradictory at the same time. Today, one of the major trends of contemporary architecture is to link interior space to the exterior with minimum compromise.
